SUMMARY:Mountain Folk Fest
DESCRIPTION:The Mountain Folk Fest\, at the Reading Liederkranz Club\, continues the ongoing tradition of acoustic mountain\, bluegrass and old-time music and dance in the Appalachian Mountain style.  Covered stage and audience pavilion areas protect from inclement weather with delicious food and beverages for sale.  Feel free to bring lawn chairs\, blankets and instruments because there are plenty of wonderful nooks and niches to start up a jam circle in the woods. \nEVENT DETAILS \nDate:  Sunday\, August 25\, 2024\nTime: 11am-9pm\nDoors:  10am\nVenue:  Reading Liederkranz\nAll-Day Admission:  $25\, under 18yrs old\, FREE.\nPurchase Tickets:  https://bit.ly/MP3_MountainFolkFest\nParking:  FREE on site. Rain or shine\, event is outdoors with cover.\nFood and Beverages:  Available for purchase. \nSCHEDULE \n11am to Noon – The Oley Rollers.  Rooted in and around the lush backwoods of the Oley Valley and Hex Highway region of Berks County\, the Oley Rollers are an eclectic traditional acoustic music group that enjoy playing Celtic\, bluegrass and old-time music. \n \n12:15pm to 1:15pm – Martha Spencer & The Wonderland Band.  A singer\, songwriter\, flatfoot dancer\, mountain country musician of old-time and original music\, hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains and Virginia’s historic Crooked Road\, Martha Spencer\, grew up in a musical family and plays music with passion derived from home\, hearth and the mountains.  She also plays in the Whitetop Mountain Band\, Wt Mtneers\, Blue Ridge Girls and with Larry Sigmon as well as the Wonderland County Show Band.  In short\, Martha and her bandmates are the real deal! \n \n1:30pm to 2:30pm – Dave Kline & The Mountain Folk Band.  Dave Kline & The Mountain Folk Band is an award-winning mainstay group from the folkloric Blue Mountain and Hex Highway section of Pennsylvania’s Appalachian Mountains.  Original songs and tunes\, as well as covers of beloved traditional bluegrass folk and mountain music\, make each performance something special for audiences.  Founders of the David L. Kline Family Mountain Folk Music Scholarship Fund\, administered by the 501c3 Reading Musical Foundation\, which has raised more than $100\,000 to assist music students interested in acoustic folk\, mountain\, old-time and bluegrass music\, Dave & the band consistently reinvest in the future of Appalachia’s glorious root music tradition. \n \n2:45pm to 3:45pm – Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass.  Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass continue to be deeply rooted in tradition and the group’s latest release\, Bluegrass Troubadour\, was nominated for IBMA’s Album of the Year and earned significant chart action\, with the song Blink of an Eye spending several months at the #1 spot on the Bluegrass music charts and was also nominated for IBMA Song of the Year.  Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass play powerful\, unadorned\, and intense traditional bluegrass and carry on a legacy set forth over six decades ago by Danny’s father Bob Paisley\, gathering fans at each event; Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass look forward with renewed energy as they bring their unique sound to audiences near and far. \n \n4:00pm to 5:00pm – The Oley Rollers \n5:15pm to 6:15pm – Martha Spencer & The Wonderland Band \n6:30pm to 7:30pm – Dave Kline & The Mountain Folk Band \n7:45pm to 8:45pm – Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass
